University of Colorado, Colorado Springs Visual & Performing Arts Center

Colorado Springs, CO

This project was a proposal for the Visual and Performing Arts Center for University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.  Located at the base of the existing campus, the site is intended to form the foundation for a new portion of the UCCS campus that will bring the campus arts closer to the city.  The project included a new 500 seat Performing Arts Theater, Recital Hall, Practice Rooms, Rehearsal Space, Visual Arts Labs, and Photography Studios.  Featuring an open ended courtyard, the design embraces multiple circulation paths to allow the campus community chances encounters with the arts.  Views to Pulpit Rock and Pikes Peak are framed with the strategic placement of the arms of the building design.
