Casa FaBa
Santa Fe, NM
This 4000sf residence is situated in the high desert of New Mexico outside Santa Fe. The project site has a gradual slope to the north with views of the distant Sangre de Christo and Jemez Mountains. The Santa Fe climate ranges from the 30's in the winter to the 80's in the summer.
An alternative construction technique was utilized using 12’ long lightweight concrete blocks, with solid concrete core fill. With this material the house achieved impressive insulation values while also allowing the house to be ‘cracked’ open for maximum light and views. The result is a modern interpretation of the classic adobe structures prevalent in Santa Fe.
