Gonzaga University Student Center
Spokane, WA
As part of a design / build effort, this project was an invited competition for a new University Student Center located on a 2.5 acre site on the east edge of the Gonzaga campus. With proximity to the campus Library and bordering Mulligan Field, the design is intended to serve as a new gateway to campus. The 160,000sf program includes a large Multi-Purpose Room, the Center for Global Engagement, Food Service, a flexible Auditorium / Event space, and a chapel. Abundant academic and group study spaces, along with meeting, retail, and recreation spaces are located throughout the Center.
Designed to literally engage the crossroads of campus circulation, the project offer multiple entry points oriented to existing paths. Inspired by the University’s commitment to environmental stewardship, the project was designed to the highest sustainability standards, and includes features such as a planted rooftop garden, natural ventilation, daylight harvesting, and high performance glazing.
